Admiration: the act of looking on or contemplating with pleasure

This blog post is dedicated to all the participants of The Momtographers' 365 Project, on day 228, who I so admire.

The project started from a simple status update on our facebook page where I expressed interest in the idea of doing one of these. The response was overwhelming encouragement from our members and a desire to come along and do it with me. So, as the new year drew closer I thought, "why not?" and I started a page for myself and anyone else who wanted to join in.

Since that day I have been completely amazed at the dedication and growth of our participants. Those of you who have attempted a 365 know that it is no easy feat, yet so many in our group are continuing on. Through personal struggles, family issues, travel, death, sickness and childbirth they continue. They continue where not even I could. I want to say that I am proud, but that would give me some amount of credit for their accomplishments, and they deserve it all, so instead I say I admire them.

Ladies to you this post is dedicated. Continue on. Strive for the finish line. You have crossed the halfway point. You have all grown so much in both your relationships and your skill. You deserve to feel the satisfaction of completion!

I admire your dedication and I encorage ALL of our readers to stop by and like the page, drop a little note, like any marathon these runners will feed off your energy and support!

CHEERS!

Enjoy a highlight of just SOME of the amazing images being posted everyday! To see the rest drop by The Momtographers' 365 Project.

A HUGE THANK YOU, to everyone who helped us celebrate reaching 1000 facebook fans by participating in our "Celebrate by Giving" contest!

It was a REALLY hard decision since every single one of the entries were tugging at our hearts strings! But after MUCH deliberation, we decided on a winner! Congratulations to Momtographer Karen Kolesar, who will now have an amazing gift for her saint of a mother in law this Christmas season!

And a very special thank you to the people over at Isabella Products who made this gift possible!

Kate's Entry:

If I won the "Celebrate by Giving" contest I would send the frame to my Mother in Law who is always there for us! When one of my twin daughters were born with a heart defect and needed surgery, she came out right away and spent 2+mos with us. Since money is tight, we are unable to make the trips back home. It is not easy for her, or I, to live on the other side of the country and this would mean so much to be able to give her such a lovely gift. As a wanabee momtographer, I am always sending her so many photos of the girls and what a better way to display them! Thank you for listening to my story!

The Momtographers are celebrating their 1000th Facebook fan by giving away this year's hottest gift, Vizit! It is at the top of their gift list--and they want to make the best digital photo frame available to you!

Vizit is a revolutionary two-way photo sharing frame. Friends and family can send photos by email directly to the frame in real-time. The frame uses the mobile network, so there is no WiFi set-up, you simply take Vizit out of the box and plug it in. Then from the frame, photos can be replied to and forwarded off the device with just a touch. All photos sent to the Vizit frame are automatically stored in the user’s personal photo management account on the secure VizitMe.com website where photos can be accessed, edited, deleted, and organized. Now, remotely managing a loved one's frame is convenient to maintain and easy for them to enjoy. To learn more about Vizit please go to VizitMe.com.

How the contest works:
In the spirit of the holiday, the Momtographers want to know who you will gift this awesome frame to and why! Post your story along with a photograph to the Momtographers facebook wall and they will pick one lucky Momtogpaher, who will have one less gift to check off their list this year!

Details:
You must be a fan to enter, so click "like" on the Momtographers facebook page if you haven't already. You must enter a photo along with your story.

All entries must be posted by December 10, 2010 and the winner will be announced on December 13th. Vizit will be shipped in time for the holidays! Please note that this contest is only open to people with a U.S. mailing address and winners will be responsible for purchasing their own photo plan.

Can't wait to see if you have won?
Starting Thanksgiving at midnight through Cyber Monday, purchase Vizit for $199.99. No promotion code necessary, just go to the store atVizitMe.com, pick the color of your frames and have them shipped right to you!

Recently my good friend and rock star Momtographer Vanessa Segars posted a link on my facebook page, and being that I have the attention span of an ant I was reluctant to click on it, but am I ever GLAD I did! I'm not really a crafter, I like to think of myself as one, but I'm not. I usually don't like them, and I'm not really very good at it. But, after watching this video, I may have to rethink my stance on the subject.

So without further adieu, check out The Girls With Glasses, as they team up with photographer/crafter Promise Tangeman, for a craft handmade for a Momtographer!

Incase you haven't noticed, I am all about getting the maximum glory from the simplest things, enter Rice Krispy Treats stage left!

Refer to theopening sentence, as this is exactly what you will get with these tasty treats! I laugh every year (this is year 3) when I bring them to ALL (and I do mean all) the halloween parties, and am met with "oohs" and "ahhhs" and other complimentary phrases. And while I am always tempted to sit back and take it all in, I say everytime, "It's so easy, it takes 10 minutes" but alas no one believes me, well that or they are just faking it to help my ego which is entirely possible! :)

And since it has worked wonders for my ego, if not my waistline, I thought I would share the recipe for this little show stopper with all my friends here. I am tempted to say they may beat out your aunt Ethel's pumpkin pie for best in show at this year's Thanksgiving feast! :)

Rice Krispy Pumpkin Patch

1 stick of butter

1 bag of mini marshmallows

1 regular size box of rice krispys

1 tablespoon of white sugar

green food coloring

orange (or red and yellow) food coloring

1. Slowly melt butter in a large nonstick pot

2. When butter is fully melted add in the marshmallows, reserving a large handful for the stems

3. Stir until marshmallows are fully melted into the butter

4. Add orange food coloring to desired color

5. Stir in rice krispies and set aside

6. Take the table spoon of sugar and put it into a tupperware container with a lid add several drops of the green food coloring

7. Add in reserved marshmallows to the green sugar cover tightly and shake vigorously

8. Take small handfuls of the rice krispy mixture roll into a semi round shape and top with a green marshmallow stem

VOILA!

If you have any tasty treats you would like to share send them along with a picture to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

It's an interesting world that we live in, one where we can connect with people all over the world, for any number of reasons. More then 4 years ago I chose to connect with a group of women all who were expecting to bring new life into the world in the winter of 2007. One of these ladies has become one of my closest friends and co-founder of this site, while many of the others are still part of my daily dialogue in one form of communication or another, from facebook to IM to text. Never was the significance of this more apparent then it has been over the last few weeks and for me the last few days, as so many of us sent our first born babies, off into the world without us for the first time.

I remember so distinctly the early days on our due date club where we anxiously anticipated those first movements inside our bellies, and then our anticipation shifted to the moment we would find out who this little person might be a boy or a girl, and even more anxiously the anticipation heightened as we yearned to meet our little people, and then one by one they were here!

After that most of it is a blur, milestone after milestone anticipated, documented and gone in a flash.

On Tuesday morning, I found myself yearning to go backwards in a way I had never felt before. Many times in the last few months I have wished for a pause button, something to stop the time from passing so I could hold onto to my baby, my first born baby, just a moment longer. But status update, after status I realized time wasn't going to wait for me or anyone else. So reluctantly I added my baby's biggest milestone yet, to the cyberspace dialogue, closed my computer and held her tight.

In true Chloë fashion, wanting to make sure I knew she was alright she flashed me a smile and a quick thumbs up before she set off to be a part of the bigger world without me. It might be my imagination but I am quite certain she came home, taller, smarter, funnier, older, and more mature! But what I am equally certain that I didn't imagine, was the excitement on her face when she told me about her teacher, her new friends, her desk, and the water fountain in the hall.  And the bedtime hug that lasted a little longer then usual.

In my mind these three little tots are the best of friends and have been long before the first hug or kiss ever happened. And luckily for me earlier this week, me and their mama were able to put that theory to the test, when little Luna came across the pond from her native London, to play in the parks of New York City!

You tell me, friends for life?

If there are still any questions, I think these smiles tell the rest of the story!

One hot Sunday afternoon in a park in Harlem, three bored girls decided there had to be something they could do while their little siblings napped! "I've got it!!!" shouted one, "we'll have a scooter date!". "A scooter date?!" shouted the other. "No" said the third. The other two looked at her puzzled for a moment, and then she shouted, " THE GREAT SCOOTER RACE!!!!!". "YAAAAAAY" all three shouted and jumped for joy. And so it was, the afternoon of, The Great Scooter Race. :)

Ok, Ok, you got me, it wasn't at all that dramatic or sophisticated, but this is the story that came to mind as she her uttered those words!

In reality it was a scooter play date arranged by us mommies for the big sisters, while the little ones napped. But when my dear sweet Chloë said, "Mommy is it time to go to the great scooter race yet?", my hear melted and I said, "You mean the scooter date with your friends?" to which she replied, "YES MOMMY! The GREAT SCOOTER RACE!"

Now I really understand where that old Bill Cosby, "Kids Say The Darndest Things" came from! :)

And they're off!

Someone's getting GRUMPY, time for a chocolate break (they are such girls already... chocolate makes everything better!)

NOTHING says Friday or summertime better then three toddlers up to the waste in sand! Enjoy your daily dose of cute, and please show us yours!

Don't forget to get your entries into our "summer" challenge!
