Yes, it would seem Santa Clause has brought me a baby. Strike that - he brought me the end of the first trimester! After over a year of trying we've beaten infertility once again!!! Baby Gray is due July 2010.
The process of bringing something like The Momtographers to life while finding myself at the foot of the journey that brought me here to begin with is mind boggling. It seems like only yesterday I took the first pictures of my baby girl, which ignited in me the importance of photography. In some ways, it's what got me through those colicky nights and the mind-numbing sleep deprivation. In those early weeks, posting the tangible evidence of the gorgeous baby that was mine somehow put it all into perspective. And every picture was a chance to get closer to documenting with my lens what my heart truly saw in her. If only I could teach my camera to see what I could see.
I won't blather on too much more (like about how tabasco on popcorn rocks - thanks for the tip V! -or how I've elevated my cousin's flourless chocolate cake recipe to sacred), but I know that if you're here, it's because you experienced some version of what Krista and I experienced with our firstborn. A love, documented. And that makes you near and dear to us already.
So thank you friends for excusing my lack of eloquence on this first blog post. I am, after all, sharing a brain with a fig-sized digestive terrorist.
Here's to the love of our children and all of the wonderful things we'll do together - and to all of the friends (old and new!) who've gave us the chance to bring this seed of an idea to life!
Now about that popcorn...
